Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect?

Each session is individually tailored to what you want to focus on and also what you hope to take away from the session.

Sometimes clients choose to focus on an area they want to understand more about and unpack this the whole session.

Others choose to focus on patterns they want to change or let go of particularly relevant with couples.

Session will usually involve a period of mindfulness and present focused grounding as well as talking through the issue.

Therapy sessions are based on the South Coast of NSW, Australia, face-to-face or Telehealth.

Can I use MHCP (Medicare rebate)/private health insurance with you?

My lower than usual fee reflects that at this stage I do not offer a rebated service. My fee is similar to the gap fee that is usually required with a rebated service.

Some people prefer the privacy of not using a Medicare rebate/private health option and prefer a private practice full fee service like this one that is not affiliated with your GP or private health insurance company.

Please keep in mind that you often need to pay a gap fee when you access these other types of services unless they stipulate that they are completely bulk-billed.

How private & confidential is this?

Your privacy is incredibly important and is paramount to creating a safe counselling environment.

Based on the South Coast, NSW, I do see clients in the community, but its always ok because we talk about this in our first session and decide the best way to approach this. So straight up conversations about seeing a local therapist happens pretty much first thing. So you can rest assured I understand this and always uphold confidentiality and privacy standards.

Confidentiality is a priority however like all professionals in this area it is limited to a point of safety. If you or anyone is at risk of harm I am required to notify appropriate services. Should you choose to book into a session you will be asked to read and complete a form which outlines more about privacy and confidentiality and how your information is securely stored.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people know they will need more than one session and others prefer single sessions to unpack one issue. Its preferable to aim for up to 5-10 sessions as the relational approach thrives on depth and connection.

This can be discussed and decided week by week or together in a session. Some people prefer weekly or fortnightly sessions to imbed the work done in each session into their life, others enjoy the flexibility of not having a regular session and prefer to book when needed.

I cannot always guarantee a time will be available for you if you prefer one session at a time however, but I will my her best to accommodate your needs.
