Counselling with Rebecca
I aim to offer you a compassionate space to experience psychological safety so that you can explore what is important to you and open up a greater sense of wellbeing for you to enjoy life.
My approach is influenced by a belief that with increased self-compassion, self-awareness and some positive action, challenges can be faced and we can open up to experiencing more fulfilling connections with ourselves and others.
I have 2 decades experience and hold professional credentials including:
Advanced Certificate in Relational Gestalt Counselling(2017) from Gestalt Therapy Australia
Bachelor of Social Work(Hons)(2006) Degree from RMIT and a registered member of the Australian Association of Social Workers
Bachelor of Arts(Hons)(2003) Degree from VUT
Certificate in Wellness Coaching. Endeavour College
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples- Sue Johnson
Mental Health First Aid
Emotional CPR
Trauma healing and trauma awareness (Peter Levine PhD. & Blue Knot Foundation)
We may also explore areas of your life such as sleep, nutrition, movement, rest and joy to develop a greater understanding of the whole context. These can be important parts that counsellors without a passion in these areas and not trained in wellness coaching might miss and just may be the extra link necessary to help fuel growth, healing and change.
Experience & Special Interest Areas:
Anxiety, worry, excessive thinking, rumination
Highly Sensitive Person self-identified
Family & intimate partner relationship challenges
Low confidence
Neurodivergent identified people
ADHD in women- particularly later in life diagnosed &/or self-identified

My practice is not about diagnosing you but rather is centred in a strength based, affirming and person-centred model that utilizes a lens that makes room for all parts of your experience. Each session is mindfully paced keeping your psychological safety at the forefront.
With your permission I may also incorporate other modalities including mindfulness practices and breathing techniques, somatic movement and journaling.
I will support you to increase your awareness of the issue you are facing and will support you to feel more resilient and robust to handle what may arise. What’s important to you will be explored with the hope of bringing you closer to inner confidence, contentment and direction in your life.
Counselling sessions in-person are located on the South Coast of NSW and online via a secure video platform service
Most people can gain something from counselling as long as they want to authentically connect, learn more about themselves and practice possible strategies for change in their everyday life.
I will encourage and guide this process of increased self-awareness, and support you in the management of stressors, helping you gain clarity on the situation you bring to each session.
Personally, I have an interest in nutrition, natural medicine, personal & community development, creative arts & yoga. I also like to walk anywhere and everywhere, cooking & tending to my garden, and being in nature. I am always reading, usually something non-fiction and fiction at once and I am massive fan of local libraries & the humble community book exchange. Prior to moving into the community services field I studied a Bachelor of Arts and completed an Honours thesis on The Theatre of the Absurd where my interest in existentialism and the human condition was fuelled.
